Mount Sinai, also known as Mount Horeb, Mount Musa, Gebel Musa or Jabal Musa ("Moses' Mountain") by the Bedouins, is the name of a mountain in the Sinai Peninsula. For information about the location of the Biblical Mount Sinai, see the corresponding article.

At 2,285 meters high, Mount Sinai is a minor mountain next to Mount St. Catherine,, at 2,637 meters high the highest in the Sinai peninsula. It is surrounded on all sides by higher peaks of the mountain range.

Biblically, this is the mountain where the god Yahweh met with the Israelites. After He gave them the Ten Commandments, the Israelites were afraid to hear the rest of the words of the Lord and so sent Moses as a medium of communication. While on the mountain, samiri created a golden calf for the Israelites to worship. The Lord told Moses of this, and in his grief upon seeing this, Moses broke the tablets that had been given him by the Lord. After punishment and restoration, Moses returned to the mountain . These were to be placed in the ark of the covenant, which was one of many instructions Moses received on the mountain..

However, many Biblical scholars are of the view that Jabal al-Lawz, in Saudi Arabia, is the actual peak where the Lord met with the Israelites..
