USS George H. W. Bush, USA

USS George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier (probably) in the Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard.

USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) is the tenth Nimitz class supercarrier of the United States Navy. She is named for former President George H. W. Bush, who was a naval aviator during World War II. George H. W. Bush is to be the final Nimitz class aircraft carrier constructed; her successor will be Gerald R. Ford, the first of a new class.

She is the second United States aircraft carrier to be named after a naval aviator (Forrestal was the first). Other naval vessels named for aviators include frigates McClusky and Thach, and destroyer Massey, all named for aviators who commanded formations in the Battle of Midway. While still a Nimitz class ship, George H. W. Bush differs significantly from her predecessors, even more so than the differences between CVN 68-70 and CVN 71-76.

The Kuwaiti ship Al-Hashemi-II is a very large dhow that sits next to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait. The Al-Hashemi-II is advertised as the "World's Largest Wooden Ship". The Al-Hashemi-II has a length of 83.7 meters (274.6 feet). Its bow is 18.5 meters wide. The Al-Hashemi-II sits on 6,000 square meters of land resulting from an ocean reclamation project.

The construction planning of the Al-Hashemi-II started in 1985, and actual construction began in 1997. The construction of the ship cost more than 30 million dollars through 2001. It is used as a museum and restaurant and will never be put to sea. There is a large parking area under the concrete slab on which the Al-Hashemi-II sits. It is entered in the Guiness Book of World Records.
