Silesia Stadium (Polish: Stadion Śląski) is the biggest Polish football (soccer) stadium, situated in districts Chorzów and Katowice of Metropolian Katowice. It was opened on 22 July 1956 and has hosted crowds of over 120,000 for both football matches and speedway world championships. In 1993 the stadium was designated the official home ground of the Polish national football team. In the 1990's it was converted to an all-seater stadium with a capacity of 45,000.
