Those lines are painted into the dry lakebed. You have to remember Edwards is the Air Force Flight Test Center and also lands the space shuttle. What you see is essentially a giant compass and some extra run way actually painted on the dry lakebed. Nothing unusual. been there for years. If you want to see something really cool go over to the flight line hangar area just west of 9 o’clock on the compass and check out the two triangle dots. Those are SR-71s. If you can’t see then zoom in. You’ll make them out eventually.
