Santa Maria (Portuguese for Saint Mary) is a fishing town situated in the southern part of the island municipality of Sal, Cape Verde. The town is the third largest in Cape Verde and is one of the few that it is larger than the the municipal capital. Santa Maria is located about 15 km south of the Amílcar Cabral International Airport, and it is the southernmost point of the road linking north to Espargos. The GDP and the living standards are one of the highest in Cape Verde.

The streets follow mostly a grid system. The urban area is near the beach. Much of the area around Santa Maria is flat, dry and sandy with no vegetation. In the 1990s the population boomed owing to tourism. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops are within its main streets.

South of Santa Maria is a cape featuring a lighthouse in the island's southernmost point and is accessed with an unpaved road. Another road east links to the southeasternmost point.

The Bergisel, Innsbruck, Austria

The Bergisel is a hill (746 m) that lies to the south of Innsbruck, Austria, in the area of Wilten, where the Sill river (Wipptal) meets the Inn Valley.

The name is derived from the Latin name burgusinus (mountain), which then became Bergisel in German. Among its earlier uses were as a cremation site and as a habitation area during the Ice Age.

In 1809, Bergisel was the site of the four Battles of Bergisel under the command of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. In 1892, the Andreas Hofer monument was erected in order to commemorate the battles.

Since 1952, Innsbruck has hosted one leg of the Four Hills Tournament. The Bergiselschanze was built of concrete for the 1964 Winter Olympics to replace an older, smaller ramp. It was also used for the 1976 Winter Olympics. A new ramp was opened in 2003, designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, as the old one no longer conformed to contemporary requirements of ski jumping.
